TAHIT Training Programs

TAHIT's high-quality training programs are taught by experienced, qualified instructors. These are affordable training options that can be tailored for your organization. Save thousands of dollars in travel expenses by bringing the trainer to you! TAHIT's past events have received extremely positive ratings from attendees. TAHIT interpreter training courses are open to all languages* (subject to language partner availability).

  • Basic Community Interpreter Training
    (24-40 hours)

    This course explores the modes of interpreting as well as the roles the interpreter may play in a cross-cultural interaction. Ethics and standards of practice are also covered.

    (Please note: This course can also be adapted for educational, medical, legal, and/or mental health settings.)

  • Spanish Bilingual Assistant Training
    (60 hours)

    This course focuses on ethics and protocol; the differing roles of the interpreter, the bilingual employee, and the dual-role interpreter; and medical vocabulary.

  • Medical Terminology Training
    (8 hours)

    This course covers vocabulary that is used regularly by healthcare interpreters. Anatomy, physiology, and terms for selected body systems are covered. Practice in consecutive interpreting and sight translation will incorporate new vocabulary.

  • Orientation to Healthcare Interpreting
    (4 hours)

    This course serves as an introduction to the field. Material covered includes laws related to medical interpreting, the national code of ethics & standards of practice for interpreters in health care, and resources available for newcomers to the industry (such as professional associations, web resources, etc.).

  • How to work with an interpreter
    Provider Training
    (2 hours)

    This course is geared towards healthcare professionals who work with or manage interpreter services. Legal requirements and standards will be covered with plenty of time for questions & answers. Additionally, participants will be exposed to best practices for working with interpreters.
